September at NSM

Dear Friends:

Welcome back to practicing mindfulness meditation with the North Shore Mindfulness Sangha. We joyfully resume on September 14. Since the West Vancouver Seniors’ Activity Centre is still not open on Tuesday evenings due to COVID restrictions, we will continue to meet via Zoom. Just as soon as possible, we look forward to practicing together in person.

After all our practices except Deep Relaxation, feel free to stay for an informal chat over tea. If you are new, please send an email to nsmindfulness@gmail.com so that we may introduce ourselves.

Online Zoom Schedule:  Tuesdays 7:00 to 8:30 pm

Sept 14   – Tea Ceremony – Please have a cup of tea prepared.

Sept 21 –  Five Mindfulness Trainings – To participate in the recitation, have a copy of the trainings on hand, found at https://northshoremindfulness.com/practice.

Sept 28 – Deep Relaxation – Prepare a comfortable place to rest.

Have you noticed that Plum Village has started a new weekly podcast, The Way Out Is In? These are quite wonderful conversations between a Plum Village monk, Brother Phap Luu, and a lay practitioner, Jo Confino, along with their guests. You can find it any place where you listen to podcasts, as well as on the Plum Village app.

“Thich Nhat Hanh’s calligraphy ‘The Way Out Is In’ highlights that the way out of any difficulty is to look deeply within, gain insights and then put them into practice”.

These entertaining conversations range from glimpses of life in the monastery and personal experiences of the monks and nuns, to teachings about Buddhism and mindfulness practices, to fascinating insights and stories about Thich Nhat Hanh. Episodes end with a guided meditation. What a great new resource!

Warmly:

North Shore Mindfulness
